The Pacifica Mill is the cabinetry and millwork shop of Atelier Pacifica. We draw, build and install custom kitchens, vanities, closets, built-ins and furniture for houses in Malibu, Pacific Palisades and along the coast.

What we build

Built-in, by hand, to the inch

  • Kitchens

    Full kitchens drawn around how you cook, from the sink run to the pantry wall. Frameless or face-frame boxes, integrated panels for appliances, and drawers that close the same way in year ten as on day one.

  • Baths & vanities

    Floating and furniture-style vanities built for wet rooms and salt air. We seal every edge, plan around plumbing, and detail the finish to stand up to daily water.

  • Closets & dressing rooms

    Hanging, shelving and drawer systems sized to what you actually own. Lit interiors, valet rods, jewelry inserts and doors that match the rest of the house.

  • Built-ins, libraries & media walls

    Shelving, window seats and media walls scribed tight to walls that are never quite plumb. Wiring, ventilation and access are planned in the shop drawings, not discovered on site.

  • Doors, paneling & trim

    Interior doors, wall paneling, wainscot and custom casings milled to profile. One shop for the trim and the cabinetry means the grain, color and reveals line up from room to room.

  • Furniture & one-offs

    Dining tables, beds, consoles and the piece that does not exist anywhere else. Solid wood, joinery you can see, finished to sit next to the cabinetry it was built alongside.

Process

From tape measure to final adjustment

  1. Site measure & design consult

    We measure the room ourselves, talk through how you use the space, and walk the site with your architect or builder.

  2. Shop drawings & material selection

    Dimensioned elevations and sections for your sign-off, with species, sheet goods, hardware and finish samples chosen in hand.

  3. Fabrication in our Malibu-area shop

    Parts are CNC-cut for accuracy, then assembled, fitted and hand-finished at the bench by the same people who drew them.

  4. Finish

    Stain, lacquer, hardwax oil or two-tone paint, sprayed and sanded between coats in the shop, never rushed on site.

  5. Delivery & installation

    Our crew delivers, sets, scribes and adjusts every door and drawer, then walks the finished room with you.

Materials & hardware

Honest wood, hardware that lasts

We work in rift and plain-sawn white oak, walnut and maple, over prefinished and veneer-core plywood and Baltic birch where strength and stability matter most. Blum soft-close hinges and undermount slides are standard on every job, not an upgrade. Drawer boxes are dovetailed or doweled, and we build both frameless and face-frame cabinetry, choosing the construction that suits the house rather than the shop.
